A smart way to manage traffic
Road traffic congestion has posed as a major problem all over the world. As a result there is a sharp increase in the number of accidents, property damage and environmental pollution. The Traffic rules today consist of the different policies that serve as guidelines for different actions and also help in establishing safe and easy flow of vehicular or pedestrian traffic. With the rising population and the sharp increase in the number of vehicles, it has become fairly difficult for the traffic management authorities to ensure that everybody abide by the given rules, tracking any offender who breaks the signal rules, managing the traffic flow and selecting an efficient route or green way.
In recent years the number of private motor vehicles has increased sharply and so the problem of jamming on highways and in cities is becoming more and more prominent and is a major concern to transportation specialists and decision makers to monitor the traffic in big smart-city infrastructure in every corner of the world. This problem is amplified by the fact that the traffic management system using the old technologies do not always function efficiently in terms of the performance, cost, and the effort needed for maintenance and support. As a result road safety is compromised, the economy is impacted, traffic is slow moving and journeys take longer, the environment is affected, the risks of accidents increases and it also gets difficult to track any traffic rule offender. Considering the problems it has caused, the increasing traffic has become a problem and therefore, there is an urgent need to improve traffic management.
